... And His Sidekick Tripod

I got word yesterday that Boxer had one of his 'stars' (each child starts the week with 25, and can participate in First Grade Fun Friday if they have at least 20 by Friday) taken away for turning a cartwheel after Center Time in the classroom.  My thoughts, in order, were:
  1. What is wrong with him? Geez.
  2. When did he learn to turn a cartwheel?
Upon further reflection, I am thinking 3) perhaps he tripped.

Incidentally, he is now known as "The Cartwheel Kid" by most of the other parents, who heard about this at curriculum night last night. Brief attended so he could get a chance to meet the teacher, and of course we have no qualms about addressing such absurdity when Others Can Learn From Our Mistakes. Mostly the other parents (and the teacher) were impressed that Boxer 'fessed up to it, rather than trying to hide it, so points for us for having an honest child.

An honest child who can apparently perform a pretty darn good cartwheel, as he did get (imaginary, meaningless) points on the quality of said gymnastics.

"imaginary, meaningless points"

In my childhood, these were called "cool points", and were nevertheless competed for, by being the first one to name a singer of the song on the radio, for example.

Really? He lost a star for a cartwheel? Hmmm...

Kudos for the honesty! And frankly anyone (child or adult) that can successfully rotate their body in the air in a way that includes butt and feet above head gets points from me!

Abby had to "move her strip" from green to yellow for playing in the bathroom. She confessed they were pretending to be boys. Much to my relief this involved talking about trucks and cars and block building and not attempting any boy style bathroom maneuvers.
